pausing live TV

Dear all,  below the future thoughts about VOMP I read pausing of live-TV could only be done after setting timers is finished. Isnt it possible to use the vdrpatch that starts a recording every time a channel is switched to? There is a small buffer for some seconds and the recording is done all along the watchng of the channel. So pausing live-TV with this patch should be possible, isnt it? Please help to correct my errors.
