VOMP General / MVP / Re: Forum & vomp 0.2.5 news

hi and thank you for the update.

hmm.
i wonder what the fields of use are for the new UDP listener
(other that teasing my spouse by ramdomly switching channels ;))?

do you intend to implement the WOL code from pompase?
it's been working nicely on my MVPs for the last... i don't know...
12 weeks or so.

nice to know that development hasn't come to a halt.

cheers

hello,

your WOL code still works like a charm  :).
i just want to quickly add that obviously the busybox code (now)
contains an "ether-wake" applet that could be used to do the trick.

well... this would only save a couple of lines in the code of the vompclient
binary and bloat busybox instead...

cheers

thanks mate,
also for the dongle  ;D ;D

will test tonight.
hopefully, if stable, this will make it's way into SVN.

now THIS is a feature i've been waiting for.

sounds nice to me.
at the moment i'm using telephone equipment and
a good old "US Robotics Sportster Flash" to wake my
server remotely via telephone  ;D.
however... that's not a very convenient way.

any plans of making the current code available, even
though it would mean to hardcode the server MAC into VOMPclient?

as for your planned features:
can only judge from my environment/needs.
since i'm using the vdr-incorporated timeout/shutdown feature
i'd say there's no need for this feature in the VOMPclient.
the other one sounds nice.
i would extend the feature to
"- add a sleep timer to shutdown vdr and/or vompclient"

sleep timer would a bit tricky i can imagine. the user would have to be
able to stop/delete the sleep timer for whatever reason and to display
the remaining time.
a warning one minute (or so) prior to shutdown of the vompclient would
be nice.

i'm pretty certain "VOMPers" will like those new features.

cheers,
Harry

excellent idea.
you could also ask the brilliant Mr. M himself:

or, and this may be the better address,

honestly, i don't exactly remember whether it was the 0.2.3 or 0.2.4 dongle
(but one of these two definitely)

i remember trying to reproduce the reboot by rewinding the same
recording at about the same time index, but couldn't reproduce it.

hi,

can't confirm the this particular rewind/fast forward bevaviour.
almost everything is the way it should be and is the way Mark has
described.
exept once, i sort of double clicked the "10 seconds back" button,
and then the MVP rebooted.

hi everyone,

yes... i should be posting this on the SF forum.. please don't sue me  ;D

Quote
As soon as vomp client finds out
that no connection to vomp server exists it will sent a wake
up on lan to the last know IP adress of the vomp server.

shouldn't that be the MAC address?
according to this it should:
http://markh.de/software/wol.c
(it's GPL'ed ..yeah!)

best wishes

VDR maintenance patch 1.4.0-3 is now available at

ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.4.0-3.diff

This is a 'diff' against the official version 1.4.0 plus all
previous 1.4.0-X maintenance patches (which means that you need
to first apply any previously released patches before you can apply
this one).

Small fixes to the officially released VDR versions will be first
made available as "maintenance patches" in the Developer directory,
so that they can be reviewed and tested before a new official
release is published.

So please apply the patches

ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.4.0-1.diff
ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.4.0-2.diff
ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.4.0-3.diff

in the given sequence to the original VDR version 1.4.0 and
report whether it works (or if it causes any new problems).

If no bugs are reported, I'll release this as version 1.4.1
next weekend.[...]
