Hi.

Tried to setup my new raspberry (to work with vomp server on a VDR) with the manual from here:
http://www.loggytronic.com/vomp-pi.php

The only difference is the newer Raspbian image from the 25th of may I used. The ase set up was made (GPU splt size, language, time zone, keyboard layout).

Trying to dpkg -i the deb file (512 bytes?) I was told that this is not a valid deb file or so? Is there a problem with the repository? This failure couldn't be a failure from the newer image I used (successfull dd on a MacBook Pro).

Your download is broken 512 bytes is too small, download the deb file again.

Thanks.

I tried it two times yesterday and will try it again today.

My fault. Had a typo:
Wrong
wget "http://www.loggytronic.com/dl/libcec1_1.8.1-1-armhf.deb"

Correct
wget "http://www.loggytronic.com/dl/libcec1_1.8.1-1_armhf.deb"

Wget didn't say can not find file. Now this part is fixed and I'm hanging at the screen "Locating server". Do I need this dongle file on the server side?

MartenR

No, but you need a running vompserver with the same version as the client.

Get the Raspbi working with HD content.

Next issues on the list are:
Buying the MPEG2 key
Autostart of vompclient
Get remote via CEC working

Is there a german translation of the vomp menu? Is this client or server related?

You can select at client side the language in the properties menu and of course german is included.
For the autostart of vomp, I would recommend to create a deb while from the sources with dpkg-buildpackage, but remember once installed the package local access to the console is not possible anymore, so you should setup ssh first.

I don't want to miss the local console. Isn't /etc/init.d the right place to start vompclient?

I had only English as I looked in the option of vompclient. But I'll have a look again.

MartenR

Then the files for the translation are not found on serverside
