hi and thank you for your fine additions!

just out of curiosity:
did you have time to implement this?

1. config file issue
I could imagine to be able to combine entries from both files - i.e. having some of them in the server conf file and some in the client specific ones. Could be done easily.

users always cry for more ;)

hi Andreas and all,

it seems that at least in dongle 0.3.1 the [media] section is not honoured in the individual
mvp conf files :-(.
am i missing something?

it's only a prototype... but hey!
nice thingy.

does anyone have a value handy as to how much network bandwidth
is needed to deliver one tv stream?

cheers

hmm.. odd.
do you have more than on ethernet interface on your server?

could you post the output of "netstat -r" and/or "lsdev" ?
please also tell us what's the hardware version of your MVP ?
find it on a sticker on the underside of your MVP.

cheers

if you're using udev, you should be able to set the dev name somewhere underneath
/etc/udev/rules.d.
udev uses its own rule syntax. it's explained here: http://www.reactivated.net/udevrules.php

Thank you for that tip. Now my network device runs as "eth0".

But the MVP doesn´t run. I get only two white balks.

Any Idea?

goldfisch

glad i could help.

...hmm.
looks like you're missing a couple of settings from the vomp(.*)?.conf
i suggest two things:
1.
complete the vomp(.*)?.conf files adequately
have a look at the examples in the server source
http://www.loggytronic.com/dl/vomp-dongle-0.3.0
there you'll find a sample for MVP specific settings (vomp-00-00-00-00-00-00.conf.sample)
and global settings (vomp.conf.sample)

and/or 2.
for testing, please deactivate the tftp server in inetd.conf
and use the vomp-built-in server stuff to determine what's wrong.
(this way, you also get all log data from one file)

cheers

I think the change from eth0 to eth2 is the problem. How can I change the device name?

Threats??? Yikes!  ;)

Well, Forum threats (or what are they?). :P

If needed, I can offer VDR recording(s) with teletext -subtitles.

;D

hence the "Yikes!".

In everybody who is interested on this, I brought up some pachtes I found from others and mine.

2. poweron_mode
Automatik startup of LiveTv or Radio

this function can't be inverted to a sleep timer by any chance, can it?

your efforts are much appreciated!
keep on hackin' :)

Harry

P.S hmm. reading through your text again... i seem to have misunderstood.
it's a "what to do on powerup" option, isn't it?

thx for the hint

i could make VOMP 0.3.0 work for 10 mins or so.
from what i've seen... wow. nice work!
(i'm talking the visual impression)

OT:
still struggeling with segfaults on VDR 1.6.0 and haven't been able to
pinpoint the culprit yet.
this might not be the right place, but maybe someone knows this
issue?

My personal wishlist:

1. Timeshifting in LiveTV
[...]
3. Teletext (perhaps the rendering could be done by the tv, vomp just sends the full teletext-data - like a usual receiver does?)
[...]

i agree with these.
the teletext issue has been discussed a loooong time ago; i was under the impression
that it'd be just a thing of passing on the teletext data (like you're suggesting, Schnurps)
but apparently, it isn't that trivial.

Vomp For Windows / Re: vomp crashed on xp
May 08, 2008, 20:08:41
hi Axel,

could be your mpeg codec ... i remember reading something about
it in this forum.

you could, of course, use vdr channel chooser http://www.0x13.de/index.php/tools/37-tools/44-vdr-channel-chooser.html
in conjunction with VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
as an alternative (provided that you are also running the streamdev plugin
on your VDR)
