Version 8 is now available to fix a problem compiling on 64 bit systems.
#47
Done, in makedevenv-8 with kernel-3.tar.gz.

Thanks for your work.

dingo35,

Thanks for your work. As you probably saw I put it on the site as makedevenv-7 and announced it in the announcements section, and then forgot to post here :)
#49
Thanks to forum member dingo35 for identifying a problem with the makedevenv script on Debian Squeeze causing it not to work with bash 4. I have updated the packages to fix the problem, it is available as makedevenv version 7 on the web site.

I have also modified the script to download crosstool's package requirements from the loggytronic web site instead of GNU to speed things up.

VOMP General / MVP / Re: new HD Vomp?

Heh, why didn't I check amazon.com...

The way it doesn't require a computer to boot means it could be a problem to hack. I wonder if anyone at mvpmc has taken a look at it..

It could be. We will have to wait for it to come out before we can find out if it is hackable.

Just to confuse things further I have dug up/found the bdftobogl code which I believe is the same version as I used to convert fonts for vomp originally - the not-quite-the-same-format as we use now.

I think it's from some very old X11 code.

Hi, do you have the package libc6-dev installed on your system? If not, install that and give it another go on Ubuntu 8.10. I'm fairly certain I tested the script on 8.10.

VOMP General / MVP / Re: New switch = boot problem

I can only provide clues..

The point when it has loaded the dongle and disappears from the network is the point when Linux starts booting. The network interface link is restarted and then DHCP is done again from the kernel. See if the network link light comes back on on the switch for the mvp (if it has lights).

Patch applied, thanks for the work all!

VOMP General / MVP / Re: Vomp 0.3.1 Teletext

To try modified code all you need to do is run "make release" in the client directory and then "autobuild" in the dongle directory. That is enough to build a new dongle.

Please wait until the next point release, which will be soon. I couldn't test the MVP teletext support on my MVP because I'm in the UK and they don't transmit that style of teletext. Marten wrote the teletext support, but could only test it on Windows. It turns out the MVP needed some fixes, which are already in CVS if you want to compile one of those.

If it still freezes on the new code then we have things to fix that we don't know about.

There is a new version 6 of the build script on the website which works on Debian Lenny. It might also work on other newer distros, but not Fedora 11 or Ubuntu Jaunty.

VOMP General / MVP / Re: Force NTSC
July 03, 2009, 01:00:58
Check the sample config file for the mvp - there is an option to force NTSC. It's not in the menus because it might be able to kill old TVs that can only do one format, though that might just be a myth by now.

Let me know how it all works out for US TV. Someone recently said it's all AC3 audio there, which would scupper your MVP plans...
