Widescreen! Well, maybe. I don't have a widescreen TV so I can only guess. You tell me if it works! You will have to go to the options menu and tell it you have a 16:9 TV. Then, on scart systems, when it is playing video it should start switching your TV for you between 4:3 and 16:9 incoming signal aspect ratio. (I might have these the wrong way around... ;) ) Unfortunately it will switch the size several seconds too early, but this is a problem for later.

A crash/segfault when watching live TV and VDR starts a recording from another mux thus killing live TV for the MVP has been fixed.

Show FTA channels only patch added, thanks to davep for that one. You will need to update your vompserver plugin for this one, but please wait a few hours after this post because SourceForge anonymous access CVS has a delay. There is no problem with running the new dongle and the old vompserver plugin.

And in the more technical department...

Makefile for client edited for a new -DDEV define, and fixed the compilation parameters for releases.

In this dongle:

One of two remaining known picture corruption bugs fixed
Channel up/down buttons on new remote in live tv work
Banner on live tv now has 24 hours of schedules for current channel
Programme summary information for any listed programme
Hopefully fixed slow channel listing bug

And from a technical point of view, data structes are now converted to STL.

You will need to update the vompserver plugin for this dongle. (It seems to not-crash if you don't update it, but I wouldn't recommend this!)

In this dongle:

The volume control has been altered - it is half as sensitive now. Before it did most of the work on the top few bars.
More data is now scanned for different audio channels in a stream - it was possible for it to choose the wrong audio track sometimes.
Select lists now have columns, this fixes directory names to be in-line with recording names in the recordings list.
Select lists can now have an unlimited number of entries allowing more than 500 recordings/channels to work.
One demuxer bug fix, fixing audio and video corruptions on some channels.

Recently I upgraded the vompserver plugin to not override in-progress recordings by playing a live channel. This dongle detects when the plugin has refused a live channel and displays nice messages rather than freezing for 10s and displaying a lot of black.

Also in this plugin is a fix for chasing playback. You have to be more than a minute behind but it's better than it was before.

If you upgrade to this plugin you will need to update your vompserver plugin.

This dongle supports the new Hauppauge remote. You can select which remote you have in the options menu. If you change it to "New" but you have an old style remote your arrow keys will stop working, but you can get back to old style by pressing the 4 key off the main menu then press ok and then back to change the remote type.

Announcements / Fix for gazumping recordings
August 03, 2005, 23:24:29
The latest CVS vompserver code now has a fix for the bug where it was possible to stop VDR from recording something by requesting Live TV with the MVP. At the moment there is no nice auto detection of the problem, the MVP will just freeze the picture or start showing a black screen. But, it should / will not stop VDR from recording something as before. (Not 100% guaranteeing that one, but it *should* work :) ) If you press stop on the MVP and wait a few seconds it will go back to the menu just fine.

This dongle fixes a play-pause-stop-play then no sound bug. It makes it possible to put the MVP in standby even if the server is inaccessible. S-Video can now be set using on screen menus instead of editing the config file. Power state after initial bootup can be set to on, off, or last state.

This new dongle should support NTSC, and does support S-Video. If you have an NTSC TV please only try this if you know it won't blow up if it gets a PAL signal! I cannot test everything about the NTSC detection since I have an MVP that knows it's in a PAL zone. If you do try it please let me know your results!
This dongle can do S-Video. As there is no config menu yet in the GUI on the MVP, enable S-Video by editing the config file for the MVP on the VDR server. It will be in VDR_CONFIG_DIR/plugins and will be called vomp-IP_ADDRESS_OF_MVP.conf. Add the following text for S-Video:

[TV]
S-Video = Yes

Please also update your vompserver plugin for a bug fix and VDR 1.3.27 support.

I have had a go at writing a development environment setup guide that should show how to set up everything needed to cross compile code and have a MVP booting and mounting a NFS-root file system. It's at http://www.loggytronic.com/vomp-devenv.php.

It may be a bit buggy at first, comments welcome!

I have uploaded dongle version 0.0.3. This is compiled using later Hauppauge drivers - this will fix the MVP not releasing the TV on power down for some scart equipment. There is also a fix for the timezone issue - the MVP will now display the correct times.

The plugin needs to be updated and recompiled for this dongle to work.

I have uploaded dongle-0.0.2 to the web site. I am hoping it will fix a lot of the audio/video sync problems.

VOMP General / MVP / New forum!
June 30, 2005, 22:20:19
Hello, welcome to the VOMP forum. Initially there is just this one board, if there really is more to talk about than VOMP ;) I will add new boards.

But for now, if you have a question about the VOMP project that you think the reply would be useful to others, ask it here!
