VOMP General / MVP / H3 woes
September 28, 2007, 12:55:21
Hi..

I just got a second mvp through ebay.  However, this is an H3 version.  (It wasn't advertised as wireless, but has a wireless mac address on the back).

I have spent the morning jumping through hoops trying to get it working.  I did manage to get vomp working on it briefly, but now it hangs on the boot up screen.  I get four of the five blue blocks illuminated without the fifth ever coming on, then the system reboots and tries again.

When it did work it ran through its own startup, got to the fifth box, gave me a list of servers (including my vdr box) which I then clicked on, then said downloading firmware (I think).  It did that twice, but now won't do anything.

Anyone have any ideas?  Would it have overwritten its internal firmware which asks for booting?

I get nothing in logs anywhere.

Does anyone have a compiled version of the windows client with the new multimedia functionality?  I use vompclient with a remote in the bedroom and would really like the ability to play mp3's.  Also, I would like the 4 digit channel number entry as I have thousands of channels. (or at least grouped together at the beginning of ranges, so 1000-1050 for kids, 800-850 for news channels etc..)

I have a network made of of homeplug ethernet over power bricks which work at "85mb/s"... However, every now and then they receive some interruption on the signal which causes an error or something like that.

A laptop running VompClient generally recovers from this kind of glitch (happens about every 10 mins), however the mvp we have just freezes and requires a power reset to continue.

Is there a way the software could resyncronise after an mpeg2 glitch?  Also if we try and watch a program which we don't have a key for then the whole thing locks up again..  Is there a way we can get "Channel Unavailable" like on the vompclient windows software?

Overall though, it works really well.  Running ethernet cables isn't an easy task as all the cabling is in the walls and we don't have carpets (Italian apartment).

Are these in the pipeline?

I am having trouble with vdr-sxfe with timeouts on my network (I am using homeplugs, and sometimes the timings are scatty which aborts xineliboutput with seg faults, although we're trying to fix it.) but vompclient seems to work.

However I have a PPC iBook G3 which I want  to use to watch VDR, but with a remote..

Vomp For Windows / Change Audio Stream

Nice program... I like it.

However, I can't work out how to change the audio stream from one language to another?
