VOMP General / MVP / Re: Helius Media Stream
April 08, 2008, 11:37:32
Helius Media Stream just arrived.

It loads ok but the same as many other MVP's no video. I can hear audio but no video, just black screen.

I do not know why this is happening. It must be something wrong with the drivers.

Here is the model of my new Helius mvp:

Model 86001 Rev. D3AM

I am already using the ready made dongle with the patch and still get those problems.

@Harry

Do you have an original card? Cause my MVP is also working ok. Only some times that my encrypted card fail to decode a channel then I get my MVP freeze and I need to unplug the electricity and plug it back to recover.

@Chris

First of all I want to thank you for all your help and support into this project.

Any estimation when about the next release will be out? I have serious crashings of my MVP and encrypted channels.

From what you have stated a new rewrite of Live TV will be done so I hope that it will be fixed.

Strange. It must be a diferrent rom Boot code or something.

I have play a bit with it but still no joy. I can hear only sound but no video.

The other problem I have with my other working MVP is that I am tuning only on encrypted channels and I have lots of freezes.

Most of the times my MVP can decrypt my channels but sometimes if my encrypted card fail to open a channel my MVP freezes. I need to unplug and plug back the power cable to recover. Chris said that the new release of vompserver will have the LiveTV rewriten so I hope all those freezing problems will desapear.

My MVP boot ok but unfortunatly I can not see any video. Only black screen.

I have try to watch recording but still the same. The lower bar is showing that recording is started but I can see only black screen.

I do not have a machine to compile client from latest CVS. I have try the latest vompserver from CVS into my VDR but my MVP cant boot if I use the precompiled dongle.

Anyone has an idea how to fix this.

I have solved it by moving the configurations of the second MVP out of the first Group and greating different group setting for the second one.

VOMP General / MVP / Problem with a new MediaMVP
March 15, 2008, 16:54:23
I have bought a new Mediamvp with this details:
Model 86002 Rev D3A Lot 4503

I have set my dhcpd.conf like this:

Quotegroup {
  next-server 192.168.0.181;          # IP address of your TFTP server

  host mvp { # NOTE: Change the hardware ethernet to the MAC address of your actual MVP
           hardware ethernet 00:0d:fe:00:xx:xx;
           fixed-address 192.168.0.158;
           filename "vomp-dongle";
           option root-path "/home/mvp,rsize=4096,wsize=4096,nolock";
  }
  host mvp2 { # NOTE: Change the hardware ethernet to the MAC address of your ac$
           hardware ethernet 00:0d:fe:00:xx:xx;
           fixed-address 192.168.0.159;
           filename "vomp-dongle";
           option root-path "/home/mvp,rsize=4096,wsize=4096,nolock";
  }

}

My first MVP is booting ok.
The new MVP is mvp2 but I cant make it boot. It is stack on loading...

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

VOMP General / MVP / Re: Helius Media Stream

Well they say it is made from happauge for helius Streaming Media and it is a identical device with normal MediaMVP.

If it works which I want to beleive that it is, it will be a cheaper solution than MediaMVP's around.

From what I see I will be the first one to try this model.

I have order it allready cause the price was good and it was stated that it's the same with the regular MVP's just with a different sticker.

Well, I will see when arrived and let you know.

I have found a good price on a Helius Media stream MVP with Model 86001 Rev E1M Lot 4703.

Can someone confirm that it will work on VDR Vomp server?

Thanks

I know, I hope that soon hauppauge will introduce a new version of MVP with HD. I will have as a HD clients other VDR's wth streamdev.
Thats where Digital TV is going to. HD all the way

Unfortunatly my switch is a 10/100Mbits at the momment. My VDR server is 1GBit though.

About encrypted channels problem:
After reading the forum I have read that some dongle files are out that can eliminate the problem with encrypted channels.

I am planning to upgrade to HD dvb2 cards soon so a good upgrade of the network would be superb.

Hello to all paople first of all and a big thanks to the creator of vomp for his great work.

I would like to point some questions to our experience friends:

How many MediaMVP's can work in a 100Mbit wired network?
I am trying to play some mkv (HD files) and avi (xvid files) with Media Player but it does not recognize the format.

I am using vomp for a wile now and even I have upgrade to the latest version I still has problems with uncleared encrypted channels.

I have an original subscription card on my VDR which decodes a number of channels, If I try to open a channel that is not supported from my card my MediaMVP crashes and I need to power off and on to recover. This happens also sometimes if my original card fail to open a channel for reason.

Any ideas please?

My configuration:
vdr-1.4.6 with CVS streamdev-server
and Vomp server and dongle 0.2.7 downloaded from the site
