Nope you are right ...
but it jumps somewhere close to the mark :-( .....
For now i found a hack that allows me to edit marks at just to cut off some space before and after.
And it allows to do the cutting already.
Still not brilliant ( whilst it is cutting you can't get any progress etc. )
but on it's way ....

VOMP General / MVP / Editing marks
September 30, 2008, 14:02:27
Hi,

I implemented some sort of mark editing, to enable cutting via an MVP client ( the only client i have )
seems to be pretty much straight forward.
the only thing i can't get to work is to jump the currently played stream to an existing mark using Player::jumpToFrameP.

This function is not used anywhere else. Does anybody know if this is working ?
Or any other idea how i can jump to a mark and pause the stream there ?

I'll try to find a hack to get that working.

From top of my head ( not in front of a tv right now ) i'd suggest that up down do the scrolling even in live TV if you reach the upper or lower end of the scroll text the "regular" up / down behaviour should take place.

Thats how i usually do stuff like that ( on even smaller screens - mobiles )

[edit]
I figured last night, that the epg text in LiveTV uses lets say 25% of the screen max.
IMHO it should use more if i want to see the movie i will hide the EPG info.
If that is still not enough i suggest to use the sollution i tried to line out above.

Another issue:
Are you able to play the recordings on MAC with Quicktime (or whatever the MACplayer is) as they are stored by VDR?
If not, there is no chance to play recordings... Live-TV is different and cannot be tested before I implemented the functionality.
Perian Quicktime enhancement would be able to play it, but it does not recognize it's fileformat.
VLC of course does.

Please send me the code and we will see if i can get it to work ....

*JUMP* *ME*

I'd like to see if there is a chance to get that thing running in MacOS.
Got a MacBook Pro and a Mac mini at hand, so i could give it a try.

current release, but cvs should work as well.

Updated version for the 0.3.0 release.
Maybe it has a chance to be added to the "official" release ....
If not, why ?

As there was no reply and it was requested in the VDR forum, i added a very simple ( but effective ) lock.

Just add a new config to the MVP configs "General" section: LockDir
This is getting evaluated. If not null the Channel group with that name is the only one that gets visible on the client. Add a line like ":Locked" to the channels.conf before the first allowed channel and a ":Unlocked" after the last allowed channel. The LockDir should be set to "Locked" then to enable the feature.
Of course "Locked" is just a sample could be named "ViolenceAndPronFreeSectionsOfTheVDRfortheKids" as well.

In addition for records to be displayed, then must reside in a folder named "Locked" or whatever you chose.

Maybe it is usefull for others as well......

VOMP General / MVP / Re: Porting to other plattforms ?

Thanks for the hint.

Need to check what the gstreamer provides. Usually the decoder is provided with the system libraries ( or other prgramms the port will depend on )

VOMP General / MVP / Porting to other plattforms ?
September 29, 2007, 19:13:15
Hi,

I wonder if there is already some sction taking place to port the vomp-client to other plattforms than Windows.
IMHO an generic port ( via the SDL lib ) is something that would be really cool :-).
First of all it would increase the userbase and it would allow me to run it on my Macs and on the windows machines ....

P.S.: I'd start a port myself if noone else already started some action there .....

No Sorry,

But i think it would help others if you would supply some more information of your general hardware setup.

Hi,

Did you try to increase the priority in the setup menu ?
AFAIK by default the vdr uses the DVB card to playback the stream on the card.
So it depends on your hardware setup if that can be solved that way.

Fabian

P.S.: @ all:  Not a native speaker either, so if you find some errors, you can keep them ;-P
@ Gerhard: Ich meinte dass du mal die Priorität im Einstellungsmenü höher stellen sollst, das könnte helfen.
