Title: Tuning Timeout
Post by: UloPe on March 11, 2007, 17:42:54
Hi,

I have a few vomp clients running at my parents that are connected to a central server which has 4 DVB-s cards.
The system is set up using a multiswitch so that Astra 19.2E and Hotbird 13E are receivable.

That works quite good on "good" channels. The problem lies with channels that are not broadcasting at the moment or have gone offline completely.

If you try to tune to such a channel the MVP will freeze up for about 10-20 seconds before the "Channel not available" message is shown.
While being frozen it don't respond to any remote keys not even the power key.

This is really annoying, even more so since any other sat receiver is able to just tune to the next channel if you notice that there is no picture for a few seconds.

Is it possible to decrease the timeout before a channel is considered not available or even better to remove the blocking behaviour of the tuning?

Otherwise vomp is a great piece of software and keeps getting better.

Thanks.

I have plans to vastly change the way live tv works which will solve this problem and many others. I agree that the current live tv system is a bit clunky, and the reason is that it's too similar to the way that recording playback works. Basically it's just not "finished" yet ;)
