Title: Encrypted channels
Post by: keither on September 07, 2006, 17:10:48
Hi,

I use vdr with sc and smartcard support to view tv with my legal card.
My question is if I can see these channels in my mediamvp using vomp.

Thanks.

Hi,

.. yes, if you can watch it with vdr you also should be able to watch this with vomp (config screen - not only FTA).

I agree - if you can watch the Channel on the VDR you also can watch it on the MVP

Does anybody know if that still works with 0.2.6 ?
For me the 0.2.6 does not work in contrast to the 0.2.5 which work fine.
Both with vdr 1.4.4 on debian etch...
Actually the mvp only shows a black screen and waits forever nto like with the 0.2.5 where it  showed cahnnel not available.
In addition i should mention that i got 4 card in my headless server, 3 budget without CI / CAM and one FF with the CI / CAM, the server works even with the vomp 0.2.6 installed, but can't watch encrypted channels, only recording is possible.

thx

i can confirm that vdr 1.4.5 plus VOMP 0.2.6 & sc plugin
work perfectly with encrypted channels on debian 3.1 .

cheers

Hello Harry,

Thx for the information.
I do not want to use the sc plugin.
Do you have experience running  the system without sc plugin ?

thx

negative :(
no proper experience.
i once tried and tinkered a little with a DVB card with a CI but failed
to make it run (and had to give it back anyway).

i'm sorry i cant help you out.
greetings
Harry

Does anybody know what changed from 0.2.5 to 0.2.6 that prevents the CI / CAM solution ?
Did the way vomp handles playing the channels change ?

thx

Yes, live tv changed from 0.2.5 to 0.2.6. Before vompserver did a remux at server side towards a pes stream, now it handles the transport stream directly and demuxes at client side.
But this has not to do anything with decryption and happens afterwards, and vomp gets the data from the vdr core as before.

Hmm,

Then i do not get why it works with the 0.2.5 and not with the 0.2.6.
0.2.6 works perfectly with unencrypted channels.

strange, perhaps i find some time over the weekend to take acloser look

thx
