Hi, first check the logs to make sure that your vdr is loading the vompserver plugin you have installed. If that is working then check your firewall - the mvp needs to contact the server on port 3024, both UDP and TCP.

Well, I don't know about MahlZeit, but with "normal" VDR you must tell vompserver which MVPs are allowed to contact (plugin config -directory with MAC-address.conf -file.
And then you'll have to tell vompserver if it's working as tftpd server etc.

With MVPs rev H4 (& H3?) you'll have to do some extra tricks to make MVP to accept your firmware.

You'll have to give more information about your hardware and network -setup to get a proper advice or even "an educated guess".

Hello,

i hope i give you all the detail information you need.

On my VDR i install the Distribution Mahlzeit. All my Computers are connected over the DSL Router Fritzbox with DHCP.
Where can i configurate the MAC Adresse and anything else ?

hi,

i've taken a look at Alex's vdr setup.
his MVP is a H3 ...
bootp & tftp are activated in vomp.conf - files, dirs are set correctly.
his DHCP server normally is a fritz box which is unable to provide
proper dhcp settings. so, for a test, we deactivated the fritz dhcp server
and let vompserver handle bootp and tftp:

21:35:25.992969 [info]   Main - Logging started
21:35:25.993318 [debug]  UDP - UDP replier started
21:35:25.993574 [debug]  BOOTPD - Starting bootpd
21:35:25.993709 [debug]  BOOTPD - Bootp replier started
21:35:25.993881 [info]   Main - TFTP path '/tftpboot/'
21:35:25.993919 [debug]  Tftpd - Starting TFTPd
21:35:25.994048 [debug]  Tftpd - TFTP server started with base path '/tftpboot/'
21:35:25.994166 [debug]  Main - MVPServer run success
21:35:25.995257 [debug]  BOOTPD - Starting wait
21:35:25.995339 [debug]  Tftpd - Starting wait
21:36:43.365680 [debug]  BOOTPD - Wait finished

21:36:43.366238 [debug]  BOOTPD - Opened config file: /etc/vdr/plugins/vomp-00-0D-FE-[deleted].conf
21:36:43.366437 [debug]  BOOTPD - Found IP 192.168.178.25 for MVP
21:36:43.366561 [debug]  BOOTPD - Will enforce IP 192.168.178.25 on MVP even if it already has another
21:36:43.366601 [debug]  BOOTPD - Giving MVP IP from config
21:36:43.366908 [debug]  BOOTPD - Starting wait

there obvisously are issues with the H3. i'll have to read my way through
the H3 issues :(

I had quite similar problems with my H4 mvp.
I can't remember where I found correct file, but my mvp didn't get dongle.bin, because I didn't have dongle.bin.ver -file (it didn't exist).
After correct dongle.bin.ver was installed, it started working (and still is) like charm.

thx 4 your feedback.

hmm.
shouldn't the TFTP download show up in the logfile?
anyway... i'm planning to install isc-dhcpd on Axel's VDR.

cheers

What does mvp show?
Does it seem to start download?
Mine did, and then freezed... dongle.bin.ver was the answer then.

no, the dongle apparently never loads.
but then again, i've never used the  built-in TFTP
server. i only assumed it would log any TFTP downloads.

[edit]
this is getting somewhat annoying...
Axel's MVP doesn't make a TFTP request at all.
neither on port 69 nor on port 16869.
will try this tomorrow:

ok...

mvprelay was the answer.
MVP now sucks in the dongle.bin(.ver).
vompclient starts but doesn't show live TV and crashes.

might have something to do with using a 0.2.6 dongle with 0.2.5 vompserver *grin*
...no gcc on that mahlzeit thingy :-(
maybe someone has still a 0.2.5 dongle for Axel flying around?
but wait..
is this still valid?
http://www.loggytronic.com/dl/vomp-dongle-0.2.5
you may wanna give this one a try, Axel.

Yes, old version downloads are still valid at the moment. Though I don't know how long that will last - loggytronic.com is slowly running out of space.

As for this nightmare of booting MVPs.. I think it needs a detailed investigation with each step of the way documented properly. Maybe wiki style, with a page per step including how to get it working, common problems at that step and solutions.

I would contribute more myself to all these threads about MVP boot problems if I could remember how it works... ;)

hmm.
have just read through your (Chris') bugfix history and saw that MVPRelay
was introduced in 0.2.6.
so setting up a proper environ. with gcc and stuff might be
a good idea for you Axel :)
