Unfortunetly, the old remote doesn't have the function buttons.  I suppose we could have new and old remote functionality, but we can't remove features from the old remote type.

There is allready selection in settings for new/old remote, but I have no idea what it does? How does it change anything?
In my opinion nothing has to be removed, just few "shortcuts" would be nice. :)
Now I have quite a few buttons with no assoiciated functions.

This doesn't belong to color buttons, but is it possible to associate those top buttons (video, images, music, tv, etc.) to corresponding functions?

Is it possible to make buttons more like VDR?

                   Red                Green           Yellow         Blue
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Live TV         Start recording Summary      EPG?           Audio
Recording     Summary         -10s             +10s           Audio

This would move about all buttons, but with VDR in house (and in use), it would be easier to have those -10s and +10s in same positions?
With Live TV it would be great to have "instant recording", wouldn't it?
Green is used in VDR for Audio, but only in Main Menu...

After all, it's totally up to Chris which order those button are, but same button for same function (at least in MVP) is great idea.

vdr -> vompserver -> mvp
vs
vdr -> streamdev -> vlc

I just thought, that with externremux user could "burn" subtitles into stream on-the-fly.
Uses quite much CPU, but that would be quick fix for viewing subtitled broadcasts and recordings with vompserver & mvp.

Yes, support for subtitles is quite important for m(y wif)e :)

Is there or will there be support for external remuxer in vompserver (like streamdev)?

Be careful subtiles is a tough task, because you have to the synchronisation with audio video...

As I mentioned previously, I can't code anything with c :)
I wish someone can though.

AFAIK: Vomp doesn't use SVDRP at all. It's directly linked to the vdr-libs as a plugin.
OK. I didn't know this. Some plugins are using SVDRP though.

I'm not sure that subtitling is working correctly in VDR yet. There are discussions on the VDR mailing list about problems with the new subtitle code.

I can use VOMP with VDR 1.5.11 to view live TV or watch existing recordings, but if I make a new recording using 1.5.11 of a programme which has subtitles, playback freezes after a few seconds. VOMP hasn't crashed; the remote control still works, and I can view the recording on the server using mplayer. Hopefully thisis a VDR issue.

Once VDR is stable it presumably wouldn't be too difficult to use similar code in VOMP to extract the text. I don't know what would be involved in displaying text on-screen.

Yes, I forgot that they "broke" subtitles in 1.5.10 -> :P
Subtitles worked fine in previous versions using plugin, but new subtitles -system isn't the same code because if you record show with subtitles using 1.5.(10/11) and try to watch it with previous versions, subtitles doesn't work. Other way it works.

Keeping that in mind, it would be better to implement subtitles in vomp dongle (and vomp server?) when they work in 1.5.x.
Does vompserver forward all data from stream to dongle (including teletext and subtitles and...) or does is strip data?

I'd really appreciate to have full cutting marks support...

This would be great too.
Wonder if this is possible though.
If SVDRP is used, it is not. http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/Svdrp

Does anyone know if subtitles support is huge or gigantic work? :)

I tried to read dongle code, but didn't understand a bit. I do programming with other languages.
Scrolling long EPG data is great too.

Great job everyone contributing efforts for vomp (server & dongle)!

I guess there's as many wishlists as there is users :)

For me no 1 wish is subtitles (DVB & teletext)
Other wishes in previous posting are good too, but subtitles is defenately #1.

Hi,

I know that DVB subtitles has been builtin from version 1.5.10, but it doesn't help me with my MVP.
I use 1.4.7 and I have subtitles (and ttxtsubs) -plugin so I can see subtitles with VDR, but NOT with my MVP.

Otherwise MVP is workin just like charm.
Ironically I got my vompserver and MVP working yesterday with version 0.2.6 and now there is new version  ;D

Well, I test it today, but support for teletext subtitles and eventually DVB subtitles would be great.
The order should be ttxtsubs first, because that is (for my knowledge) more used type.

I'd like to give my vote for subtitles as well.

Suprisingly, I live in Finland too  ;)

Few of our national channels (addition to YLE) are using DVB -subtitles too (I think it's two of MTV3 -channels).
Support for teletext subtitles would be nice too.

Hi!

I got my MediaMVP -boxes and noticed that they are H4 type.
I got vompserver running (0.2.6) and dongle starts to load.
On MVP screen it informs that Apllication is loading (or something similar), but after 7 white boxes it hangs.
On server it says:

08:01:08.679485 [debug]  TftpClient - Retransmitting buffer
08:01:09.144469 [debug]  TftpClient - Retransmitting buffer
08:01:09.144819 [debug]  TftpClient - Lost connection, exiting
08:01:09.779383 [debug]  TftpClient - Retransmitting buffer
08:01:09.779725 [debug]  TftpClient - Lost connection, exiting

And that's it.
I don't have dhcp -server running on my network and I'm using vompserver for bootp and tftp.

Edit: I installed dhcp -server to my network, and that solved the issue!
Now I have working MediaMVP H4 using vdr-1.4.7 and vompserver as backend!

Edit2: Yesterday I installed 0.2.7 and it's working like charm.
Just wish there were support for DVB subtitles and ttxtsubs
