VOMP for Raspberry Pi / Re: vchiq problem

Hi,

I start the vompclient via "vompclinet -s 127.0.0.1 -n 2>&1 >/var/log/vompclient" in the init script as root. I also try to start it via ssh (as root). I don't try to start it (until now) as demon (every time I use the option -n or -d).
The Permissions of the tty are:
crw-rw-rw-    1 root     tty         5,   0 Jan  1  1970 /dev/tty
crw-rw----    1 root     tty         4,   0 Jan  1  1970 /dev/tty0
crw-------    1 root     root        4,   1 Jan  1  1970 /dev/tty1
crw-rw----    1 root     tty         4,  10 Jan  1  1970 /dev/tty10
crw-rw----    1 root     tty         4,  11 Jan  1  1970 /dev/tty11
crw-rw----    1 root     tty         4,  12 Jan  1  1970 /dev/tty12
...

I think the permissions are ok (sins I start it as root) and lot's of tty are free.
I do not switch the console at startup, so the vompclinet will be started as the tty1 is shown.

Hi,

it's right, that a store of the volume is not needed, if the RPI runs 24/7h, but it's bad (if I use the volume control of the vompclinet), if I start up the RPI, and the volume has 100%. In this case, I would prefer to have a default volume of 30 or 50%. I think, that nobody, who use the volume control of the vompclinet, want to have 100% on startup. And since, we don't know, what is the prefer default value, it will be good, if I can configure it.

Hi Marten,

what is a free (non open) tty? I can switch via chvt to every console up to 63. Only console 1-4 is in use. However, I get this error message, that there is no free vt.
Do you know, if I must first init a free console?

Ich denke mal, es hängt mit diesem Update der Firmware zusammen:  "Update to new firmware. Includes vdec3 but without vchiq. Updated code at LKG45"

VOMP for Raspberry Pi / vchiq problem
October 19, 2012, 19:28:30
Hi,

since I use the latest firmware, and vc libs, I get this error message:
20:23:13.561775 [info]   2702 Core - Starting up...
20:23:13.564580 [info]   2702 Core - Signal handlers set up successfully
20:23:13.566692 [EMERG]  2702 Core - Could not retrieve free virtual console, please change permissions
20:23:13.572944 [notice] 2702 Remote - Init LibCEC
* failed to open vchiq instance

If I look in the firmware and kernel change log, I see, that there a lot of changes to the vchiq.
Do you also has this problem with the latest version or do you know a solution?

I had only test this for at maximum some minutes, but in this time, the audio don't stop. I have the problem on sd-tv channels (over dvb-t). HD have I not tested until the last two weeks. The system load is very low if only the audio will play back.

Hi,

most time, but not every, if I select one of the dvb-t NDR channels, I get only a black screen. Some times I get this also on some other channels, but the most time only on the NDR channels. The audio is every time OK. If I switch mutiple times to the same channel, every 10. I get also the video.
I use a local running VDR.
Do you have any idea?

VOMP for Raspberry Pi / EPG and UTF-8
October 17, 2012, 08:10:05
Hi,

there is a problem with EPG data that contains UTF-8 characters. If it contains e.g. a German Umlaut, the EPG text will be cut at this character. Do you know about this, and is there a solution?
Must I set especial environment variables to fix this?

OK, I have found the reason for this issue. It was the Power supply. Until now I use the USB Hub as power supply. This seems to be enough power for the RPI. But this is not correct. Since I use a separate 1A power supply for the RPI, I have no more problems. Before I had a lot of massive artefacts in the TV image.

Hi,

if I have problems with my dvb-t reception, sometimes the vompclient hang and it is not possible to restart it. Do you know about this. If not, do you think it will helps to fix it, if I can make a short record of such a stream for you?

VOMP for Raspberry Pi / Re: hdmi_mode setting
October 16, 2012, 11:33:20
Hi,

now I have a new (small) problem. If I stop the vompclient, I get not the console back. Also if I made a reboot, I will see nothing until the vompclinet starts again.
Is it possible to reactivate the console if the vompclient stops (e.g. killed by SIG TERM) or at minimum, is it possible to do this by a command line command?

VOMP for Raspberry Pi / Show version
October 16, 2012, 11:04:40
Hi,

is it easy possible, to show on the menu screen a small versions info. It's only for development, so that I simply can ask the customers, witch version they are running. I will prefer, if I can set this string by a command line option, or better by environment variable at compile time, so that I can add the package versions number.

Hi Marten,

only a reminder. Since the volume control now working, I only miss the additional function to set the default startup volume level.
