Title: Power Supply for MVP
Post by: nospoonuser on May 21, 2009, 16:06:15
Hello,

I bought a used Media MVP Rev D3A on ebay. it is a nice device. In some tests it runs perfect. But yesterday i had some Problems with the device: after watching 3-4 min video  it crashed. then it shows only the bootscreen and the tv flickers. the power supply i get with the MVP was NOT the original. it was very hot and after disconnecting it 2 hours i can watch tv without this problems. i believe the voltage and/or the maximal amperes are not the right for the mvp.  what for a electrical-values should the power supply  have ?

thx for help and sry, i know my english is not the best.

My 'official' D3 power supply is rated at 7.5V, 2.15A. The MVP has an internal 5V regulator so the input voltage will need to be more than about 6V, but not too high as the regulator does not have a heat sink. The unit draws 4W when operating.

Hope this helps.

I have a D3A, the label on the PSU says it's probably capable of 1.66A at 6V. So I would recommend a 6V supply with at least 1.66A but probably aim for a 2A or more. Having more amps is not a problem.
