VOMP General / MVP / Telnet open on MVP
January 18, 2006, 07:14:56
hi Chris,

is there any special reason to keep the telnet port open on
the MVP? ???
presumably for debugging...

VDR developer version 1.3.39 is now available at

ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.3.39.tar.bz2

as many of you already know, Klaus has thrown out a new version.
find the changelog here:
www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/vdr/2006-January/007022.html

took me 10 mins to read the changelog... _loads_ of changes
according to Klaus, v1.4 is not so far away anymore.
Fabrizio (standing on Titanic's bow): "I can see the Statue of Liberty already! Very small of course."

can't really say....
i'm using 1.3.37 ... and it's sort of stable.
no VDR frontend here either... i'm using VDR for recording/streaming only.
every now and then... there's a little glitch. but... hey...
i'm also a windoze user and hence used to these kind of 'disturbances'.
so: neither an aye nor a nay from me. that wasn't very helpful. i know  ;D

cheers
Harry

P.S my VDR does _not_ run 24/7

i entirely agree with kml.
but then again... Klaus is gonna come up with 1.4 eventually.
its like playing with the sword of Damocles *g*.

VOMP General / MVP / Re: Translation Efforts

hi,
"Go: Preview" (The 'Go' button)  switches to the chosen channel and displays it
in the preview window within the EPG (resized picture).

many thanks!!

you're right about the occurrence, of course.
i'll have to provide more precise bug reports in the future.

thx again

you might  ;D.
and... even odder: my MVP stays off with the green button this time.
(remember the signalling "bug"?)

however... the new features are stunning!
many thanks to you and Brian!

i haven't tried this yet... is the EPG also linked to the "Guide" button?
owners of the new remote would benefit from that.

in the preview in the EPG there's a slightly alpha-blended bar... looks nice!

hmmm.....

selecting "stand-by" from the menu freezes the MVP.
don't i have to update vompserver for certain?

cheers
Harry

[edit]
mea culpa:
Chris wrote "[...]that you do need to update[...]"
I read "that you don't need to [...]"
time for me to go on an extended holiday!

renderer?
so... back at the beginning... this text data can _not_ be put into VBI line space?
#161
thanx 4 the info.

hmm.. my VDR ist positioned in the cellar... i use it solely for streaming to MVPs.
so , even if VDR is able to decode and display teletext... question remains whether
vompserver can interface with that.
#162
that is correct.
we're talking 80's block-like screens with a total of 96 letters, digits and special chars.
(transmitted between line 577 and 625 AFAIK)

there's a new form of text embedded in the DVB stream?
didn't know about that.
#163
oops...*gg* i completely misunderstood you..hehe.

to be honest.. i have no idea how the teletext is extracted from the dvb stream and
put into the VBI.
i have to investigate that.

cheers
Harry
#164
i see.
you don't think it would be worth implementing.
well... it was only a question. *g*

cheers
Harry
#165
it does.
how else would i get teletext over a "normal" dvb-s receiver? *g*

cheers
