Hi folks,

Santa has brought me a bunch of disc space. So I wanted to transfer some DVDs I have onto that. I simply
took all VOBs and transfered them to vdr format by ProjectX (latest version). I generated a new index and
let them split by genindex. But it will not play...just a black screen.

I should mention that vdrMediaClient has no problems playing the resulting files structures...

Any ideas?

Best Regards,
Carsten.

I see...

I will anyhow try to find out, which one will give me the best results.

Thanks,
Carsten.

Hi Marten,

here is what my installation uses: Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder 2.00 build 2525. I guess it's from a codec pack. VdrMediaClient mentions
also some Cyberlink Encoders and Sigma, Plam, Ulead, and VOB Encoders. I have no idea how to delete and reinstall them to test their quality. I also have now idea which of these came with what product or codec pack. I guess the target should be to find a nice-looking freeware decoder and budle it, yeah? I'll further investigate on that.

You or me could also try to contact that developer of vMC to ask him for code snipets. He mentioned once to have taken the "internal decoder out, for license issues", but it's back in again.

Best Regards,
Carsten.

Hi,

first of all: that's a real nice piece of software. Up to now I used VdrMediaClient in version 0.0.0.7beta, which in fact does
what I expected.

There is a difference, though, that I would like to report. I guess it is related to the MPEG2 decoder. Colors look much better
and there are now such artefacts such as combs on high contrast edges. I am not a real expert on VdrMediaClient, but I know
that I can switch Decoders somehow. I also don't not know, how XP decides which one to use when there are more than one.

Marten, do you know how to influence that, or maybe check, what different decoders are used?

BR,
Carsten.

Hi,

and I am one of them  8). Bought mine on ebay, just have to wait for my birthday, as my wife asked me
to buy myself a technical present. When I just gave it a try (to see wether it works), it was working like
a charm. Now I am nervously waiting for December 12th...

Best Regards,
Carsten.

Yep, and how did you get the source? I would be very interested in giving it a try...
