VOMP General / MVP / CVS and Radio.
February 22, 2008, 10:09:36
Hi Guys,

I tried the CVS the other day again.  It looks good and I look forward to using it, but I need to wait for the audio switch and radio to work again.  Is there any idea of how long it would take to put those back in again?  Or is there anything I can do to facilitate it happening?

That sounds quite good.  Quite a lot of UK TV is already 16:9, so we have a widescreen TV.  However, Italian TV is 4:3, and when they go for 16:9 they broadcast it with top and bottom borders and a channel logo at the top. Xineliboutput does a fairly good job of scaling it (on the fly) and chops the logo (which is ok by me).

However, having a button on the Vomp menu, say zoom, which scales up the source could work?  Or is there a cleverer way to do it?

Hmmm, looks good and compiles, but not quite working for me.

Radio just says channel unavailable, and the Info and Audio buttons are not working.

I'll go back to what I had for the time being.

I like the new on channel display though.  Reminds me of a dreambox.

If there was a way of interfacing it with femon it would be really cool!

Ie, have a signal strength bar, maybe channel logo etc.

Yea, Chris,

That fixed it for me.. :-)

I'm a happy bunny now.

Can you tell us when CVS is usable again?  (Ie,  you mentioned that TV playback wouldn't work etc)

No, channel locking is on the wish list.

I tried to hide the undesireable channels (which VDR puts back if you remove them) in amongst then middle somewhere and hope the kids don't notice.

You go to Live TV

Then type in the number (now 4 digits) and it takes you to the channel.

This is the link of the IPTV-Plugin, you can connect streaming sources via url in your channels list and hopefuly play them also in Vomp... maybe thats what you are looking for!

I had a  play with IPTV, but it isn't a good thing, as it appears as another DVB device and always goes on, which clobbers the dreambox, as you can't change channel or record if you're streaming.

Thanks though,

VOMP General / MVP / Streaming from a Dreambox

I asked this on the VDR mailing list, but it occured to me it might just be easier adding it as an option to the media player.

On a PC I can stream an mpeg2 stream from a dreambox by doing:

http://192.168.2.7:31344

And it will play whatever is on the TV.

Is there a way to do this on Vomp?

Could I create a playlist and try and play it?

It would help as we only have two Sat cables coming down, and one of my Diseqc's keeps arguing with my SkyStar but less so with the Dreambox.

We have three mvp's in the house, but it ties up both cables if my wife wants to watch the same TV in the kitchen as we do in the lounge, then the kids can't watch something mindless on Nickelodean.

This was mainly as a test, but someone may be interested.

Looks good on a 32" but pretty rubbish on a 14"

Thanks guys, that did the job...

Have done an Italian language file too.

Is there any merit in messing around with the VDR.jpg logo and/or backgrounds?

I quite fancy some fun options other than standard, dunno if anyone else would be interested?

As promised, here's an Italian version.

It's reasonable, but I'm sure a native would do better.

I mainly did it as I want to recommend some Italian friends to start using it.

If I play too much with the TV and it doesn't work, my wife will kill me.  I'll wait until live TV works again and try then.

Is there a CVS command to pull in upto a certain date?  If so, what would be that date to have pretty much everything working?

Maybe we can set a default cvs to be a working one and have different streams which are the cutting edge development parts?

Is there available source for 2.7 client around, I can compile that with the language file to test?

VOMP General / MVP / VompClient plugin for dreambox

What is the chance of cross compiling vompclient to work on a dreambox as plugin?

I know this might sound a bit daft, but quite often we want to watch something on the other sat cable to the DM, having the option to just drop into "Vomp" would be really useful.

Ok, I have made a few steps forward, and a couple back.

I got it compiled ok on my laptop, also Gentoo, so I guess I updated something like glibc which gentext2 doesn't like.

No I got "Login Failed", so I updated vompserver and get stuck on "Loading config.."

Any ideas, or is this what Chris mentioned would be CVS being broken?

I wanted to try out my Italian Language additions but can't without it compiling..........
