@morfsta,

do you set it only to recorder, or to all the values?

Hi sirwio,

thank you for this explanation. Now I understand, why my Samsung TV shows this message on some buttons and I can fix it (or it will be fixed generally) :)

VOMP for Raspberry Pi / Re: hdmi_mode setting

Hi,

the automatically chosen mode is the 1080p@60Hz. But if I select this in the config.txt file, I have no problem. Only if it's chosen automatically I have the problem.
If i don't select a mode in the config.txt, I can get a list of all available modes with the tvservice command. If I select a mode in the config.txt, I get only this one mode as available by the tvservice tool. That is the reason, why I ask, if you make a automatic mode switch, if more modes available. But since I know, that also all modes available, if I select a mode by the tvservice tool, I no longer think, that this is the problem.
I have no information about the HDCP stuff.
Today evening, I will check the exact automatically selected mode.

Hi,

no, the new firmware don't helps.

@Marten,
only a idea: Did the vompclient try to change the TV output to the resolution of the selected video (or any other resolution), on selection of a TV channel? Did you request the available video formats for this?
I have made some further test. It is also enough to select the resolution by the tvservice tool before starting the vompclient to make it works. It is not necessary to select it in the config.txt. If I select a resulution after the vompclient start, I get no video out.
Since it is possible to select video resolution at runtime, maybe it's a possible way, to select the resolution of the selected TV channel, and let the TV make the deinterlacen? I know, you have already a solution for this, but maybe this reduct the CPU usage and makes the quality better? In any case, this must be disengageable if a TV don't support the needed resolution.

VOMP for Raspberry Pi / hdmi_mode setting

Hi,

at the actual version of the vompclinet it is necessary to set up the hdmi_mode in the config.txt file. Otherwise the TV disconected from the RPI ( "no signal" message will be shown) if a TV stream starts.
It seems, that older versions of the vompclient don't has this problem. Also if I stop the vompclient (actual version), most times the TV shows the "no signal" message or switch to a other program.
Do you have any idea, what is the reason for this. Especially the first problem is bad, because than no video will be shown, until a working configuration was found, and this differed for several TVs, so that I can not setup a default value.

Hi,

ok, but how can I start a recording, if I have no record button, or better say, if a press of the record button only show the TV message "not supported"? Is there also a other way/key?

I have made the test recordings on the same machine. I used the VDR skincurses frontend to do this. The recording playback has no problems. The CPU usage is about 25%. The usage of the vompclient is 20%. VDR needs 5%. The load is 1.5. I have only problems with ARD, ZDF, NDR,... but not with Sat1, Pro7, RTL,... On Sat1, Pro7,... I have a little bit lower load.

Thank you. Now it's OK.

Hi,

the reason for the audio problem was, that the vompclient configuration on the dvb-s PC was wrong. It was set to analog output on that PC.
Now it works without problems if I stream the TV a second PC. Now I will see, why the local VDR makes problems on some channels.

Hi,

on my system the described problem occur if I do not set the optimal hdmi_mode in the config.txt. After I set hdmi_mode=20 and hdmi_group=1 it runs good.

Hi,

thank you for the ideas. Especially the audio channel selection sounds good. I will try it if I have access to the TV again (now my wife is watching TV).

Another question. How can I start a recording with the vompclient front-end or add a timer?

Hi,

I have check it. If I start a playback, everything is fine. But why I have no audio if I playback the recording from the sat PC and if I copy the recording to the RPI, and make the playback from the local vdr, the sound is OK. Du you have any idea? With an older version of the vompclient I had not this problem.

Thank you. Now the colours looks like I want to have them.

Now I have a new question:
It will be only shown a part of the background image. Do you know about this? Is is possible to scale the bg image fit to the screen, or how big must the image be, to fit the screen? I have detect something like 1030x530. I use a full HD resolution on my screen.

Hi,

now I have with DVB-T (the vdr runs on the RPI) the problem, that on some channels (e.g. zdf, ndr) the video stops every second for half a second and than it jumps to the next frame. The sound is well.
On DVB-S streams from an other PC the video is great, but I have no sound.
I use the latest git version.
Can I give you further informations, so that you can search for the reason?

Hi,

I found the reason of my problems. It's the TV. previews I tested with my monitor. Now I test with my Samsung TV. But the TV has a problem with the automatically selected hdmi mode. Since I selected the hdmi_mode 20, I can also watch TV.
